“Sticker bike”: The guy who owned this
bike was something of a prankster. He left
the bike at the Sea Otter Expo area and
asked some friends to haul it home for
him. They didn’t mind at all, once they
covered every inch of it with stickers as
payback for his last few pranks.
Check the drivetrain: Priority Cycles displayed this 39.5-pound,
8.25-inch-travel, carbon fiber downhill bike at last year’s
Handmade Bicycle Show. It features a belt-drive system on the
left, a chain system on the right and an eight-speed Alfine rear
hub. This one was built for Jerry Vanderpool, the owner of Hippie
Tech Suspension. The frame retails for $4000, including the shock
Bamboo, anyone? Bamboosero is one of several companies that utilizes
bamboo tubing to make their bike frames. We don’t know if such frames
will ever catch on in a big way, but it’s always fun to see such innovation.
