Winter Series may be the most
attended downhill race series in
America. There is no doubt it’s
the most attended downhill race in
Local hero: British transplant Waylon
Smith is a regular at the Southridge
events and contests Super D and
Downhill. He surprised a lot of fast guys
with his second in Saturday’s Super D
and third in the Pro Downhill. He didn’t
surprise us. Waylon flies in Fontana.
Welcome to the big league: Christian Gonzalez
used the Winter Series to move up to the Pro
class. The son of Trek’s Jose Gonzalez (profiled
in this issue) didn’t disappoint with a 14th place
in his first-ever pro race.
Buckle up: Jon Buckell, a Mountain
Bike Action photo rider, is another
Southridge regular who is always a contender. The Winter Series gives Jon a
wheel up on his snowbound competition.
