1. Frame: Scott Scale 27. 5, size
“Considering there are only three
frames built at the moment, it is fully
custom. Scott built me a 27.5-inch-
wheeled bike on my request. It has the
handling of a 26er bike, but rides
smooth as a 29er. In addition, it is the
stiffest frame Scott has ever built.
Made for racing.”
2. Fork: DT Swiss XRC Carbon,
customized for 27. 5, 100mm of
travel, 15-millimeter thru-axle with
Twin Shot lockout.
“I switched to a thru-axle because the
benefits of the better stiffness are
greater than the weight issue. The stiff
front end of the frame with the DT
fork offers very precise steering, something I was missing on a 29er bike.”
3. A. Dugast handmade Bird, size
48, tubular tires for racing, both
front and rear, with silk sidewalls
for a supple ride. Nino usually runs
the tires at around 1.8 bars of pressure ( 26 psi). The tires were
named after Schurter’s teammate,
Florian “Bird” Vogel.
“It’s by far the fastest racing tire out
there. For training rides, I use Ritchey
Shield tires, which are a perfect all-condition tire with low-rolling resistance.”

“Super stiff and lightweight, makes for
a super-accelerating wheel.”

with hexagonal alloy nipples.
7. DT Swiss 240s Fifteen Team
Edition front hub with 15-millime-
ter thru-axle, ceramic bearings and

made me a 5-degree-sweep bar. My
cockpit is important to me!”
