Custom name sticker
from VC Graphix
It’s usually used as a way
to get the bike back to me
after a nasty tumble, but I
also have dreams of it being
proudly displayed in front of
the podium someday. Love it
or hate it, it adds some additional stoke on race day.
Mutt drivetrain: Race
Face SixC cranks and
SRAM X01 remainder
Keep it simple on race
days. It’s 1x11 for the
win, no ifs ands or buts.
The SixC cranks provide
leg-loads of stiffness,
while Race Face’s Cinch
interface allows for ultimate versatility.
Shock: Fox Float X Remote CTD
On a bike with this amount of plush travel, it’s crucial to have an
on-the-fly remote for when rocky chutes transition to cranked-out flat
sections of course. So you’re always ready to devour the chunder or
sprint to the finish, head
down and panting.
Seatpost: RockShox Reverb Stealth 150mm
It’s an enduro race bike; I hope this component
needs no further explanation!
Saddle: Ritchey WCS Contrail
White saddles have become an acquired taste for
me. Within a year I went from “I’d never run one” to
having them icing the cake on a few of my bikes.
Chain: KMC X11SL
There’s something to the belief that “a chain’s a
chain” without any overthinking needed. That said,
they’re not all created equal. This KMC chain is
very lightweight and has stood up to the rigors of
some long and wet rides.
Build your own enduro machine
Bike build by Clayton Wangbichler
There’s no getting around it, I don’t have a single competitive bone in my body. I must have been breaking too many of them whenever
the competitive growth spurt happens. You’ll have to take my word for it, though, because unfortunately my years of X-rays only show
stupidity rather than competitiveness. When it comes to number plates and split times, I’ve always preferred the louder side of the course
tape. That being said, nobody is safe from the enduro craze, and I’m no exception. Next thing I know I’m signed up for a few races and
have a GT Sanction Pro frame plopped on my doorstep. For my first time, I set out to build a bike based on speed above all else.
