Mountain biking is constantly evolv- ing. Companies are always looking for ways to push the envelope and
introduce innovations that will keep our culture excited about riding. The excitement of
a new bike or component is a feeling that
is rare and treasured; it’s one of the main
reasons we buy new stuff. It is also a big
reason why we succumb to trends. It can
be tough to identify which trends are shaping the future and which are merely fads
pushed to sell products. These are some
trends that we think are going to shape the
future of our sport in the coming seasons.

cockpit has become a Swiss army handlebar. Remote lockouts for suspension are
becoming more common as well. With all of these remote options available, there
will be a need for integration to reduce the overwhelming number of buttons and
levers we have to choose from.

Swiss-army bar: Multiple switches and remotes are making
bars look like a TV remote. With shifters, brake levers, drop-per-post remotes and lockouts, the average rider
has a lot to choose from.
Girly trends: More women on
the trails is becoming more of
a standard than a trend. This
is making mountain biking
more of a family sport.
