MORE THAN SETTING SAG
IRD geek: Fox’s Intelligent Ride
Dynamics free app is a geek’s dream
come true. It allows you and your smartphone to dial in your bike’s suspension
(as long as it’s Fox suspension) like you
had a Fox technician in your garage.
Starting point: Every Fox suspension component has an ID code. On their
shocks, it is at the bottom of the air sleeve. The ID can be a mix of alpha
and numeric symbols. Write it down.
Up front: The fork’s ID code is on the top of the
fork’s lower. Again, write it down.
Plug them in: The Intelligent Ride
Dynamics app asks for the ID codes and
then searches the company’s database.
The shock’s ID code will even take your
bike’s rear suspension design into account.
On a frustrating side note, the codes for
this Salsa Spearfish came up blank. We
had to call the Fox service center to get
codes that worked.
Valuable reminder: How many times
have you set your sag only to realize the
CTD lever was in the Climb mode? The
most valuable feature of Fox’s app may
be its reminder to open up the damping
circuits before proceeding.
