made it feel more responsive on jumps and
drops. Although other forks have similar
adjustments, they typically require you to
disassemble the fork to install parts to
shrink the volume in the air-spring chamber. Öhlins has figured out a way to simplify
it so you only need a shock pump.
The Öhlins RXF is a user-friendly fork
that will take a little time to set up and a
little time to get used to, but ultimately it
delivers awesome small-bump compliance
and awesome adjustability. Thanks to the
smart design, the controls are easy to use.
Although they’re on the wrong side, we
can’t fault the Swedes too much for that.
The innovative crown that doesn’t need a
crown race will limit this choice for some,
but it is illustrative of the innovative features that we know are also on the inside.
As a first showing of the twin-tube technology in a bicycle fork, we’d have to call this
a success. ❏
•Twin-tube technology damper is very
adjustable and easy to use
•Chassis is stiff and responsive
•Travel is impressively plush and very
tunable to suit many riders
•Integrated crown race limits headset options
•Inverted air spring and damper configuration
takes time to get used to
