Troy Lee Designs’ New Lid
Troy Lee Designs is well known for
their custom-helmet painting and their
line of full-face downhill helmets. Now
their beautiful paint jobs, clean styling and technical design are available
to trail riders. The new A1 helmet is
designed for mountain bikers through
and through. It offers good all-around
Keep a cool head: TLD athlete Logan Peat came down from Canada to get some
California coastal wind blowing through his new A1 helmet.
A lineage of style: With their strong
motocross influence, TLD helped bring
visors to mountain bike helmets. Here

coverage, an adjustable visor with
anodized aluminum hardware and 16
large vents to keep you cool. The A1
is initially available in Cyclops Black
($165) and Cyclops Metal Flake Gold
As with everything Troy Lee Designs
does, the helmet intro was no ordinary
show-and-tell presentation. We were
invited to Troy Lee Designs’ store in
Laguna Beach, California, where helmet designers and sponsored riders
debuted the new lid. We’ll have a test
on it after we spend our usual 90-day
test in one.
Bicycle boutique: The launch of the A1
helmet took place at Troy Lee’s retail
storefront in Laguna Beach. Aside from
the beautiful showroom housing both their
casual apparel line and technical bicycle
wear and helmets, the location’s downstairs
space also serves as a design center.
All-Mountain Styling: TLD didn’t want the A1 to look like a road helmet with a visor
stuck on. It provides ample coverage for aggressive riders, 16 vents to keep riders cool
and in true TLD fashion, eye catching graphics.
