Keep your car secure at the trailhead
It’s not uncommon to see signs at trailheads warning trail users
not to leave valuables in their cars, locked or not. A trailhead is an
easy target for theft given that nearly the entire time you are parked
there, you’re miles away from your car. FJM Security Products
came up with a clever solution for this problem by turning any
trailer-hitch receiver into a small vault with a combination lock. It
is unlikely that potential thieves will even know of the vault given
the included dust cover. The HitchSafe is perfect for storing your
keys, credit cards or other expensive valuables while you’re away
from your car or for storing a spare car key at all times.
DP Brakes Brake Pads
A new name with years of experience
DP Brakes is not a familiar name to mountain
bikers—yet. They have a 30-year history of making
brake shoes and brake pads for motorcycles, and they
have taken their expertise and technology to launch a
line of mountain bike disc brake pads (and they also
offer a line of rotors).
DP Brakes offers $19.95 XC Pro sintered brake
pads (metallic) and $16.95 XC Eco Organic brake
pad options. The XC Pro pads are made of a mix of
metallic powders (to absorb heat), refractory material
(to provide friction), friction modifiers (to alter feel)
and graphites (to minimize rotor wear and eliminate
noise). This concoction is mixed together, shaped
and then sintered at high temperature and pressure.
The XC Eco pads are made from the latest generation of organic fiber compound to deliver a progressive feel and quiet operation.
