Dressed for success: You don’t need skintight Lycra, $500 carbon
fiber-soled shoes or a trainer. The beauty of mid-week races like the
Quick ’n’ Dirty is that they are all about being low-key and having fun.

Get it done: Derreck Bernard, who is an account representative for Mountain Bike Action, has family commitments
on the weekends. Mid-week racing gives him the chance to
get his racing in and still be a great dad to his girls.
Party time: Since all riders race at the same time, unlike events where beginners may race hours before or after the Pros, there is far
more camaraderie before and after the race. Mid-week racing is about sharing the sport you love. ❏
